Single User USB Dongle
With a single user dongle, it is possible to have a moveable Quikscribe license,
so that wherever the dongle is installed, it is possible to use Quikscribe.
Hence if you work from an office, from home and have a laptop, you can install
Quikscribe on all of these PC’s and which ever PC at the time has the the dongle
installed, Quikscribe will work. To install and use a single user dongle with
Quikscribe, you need to download and install a file called HDD32.zip.

Multi-user Network Dongle
With a multi-user Network Dongle it is possible to license unlimited users
with a single dongle. As a result, the multi-user network dongle is the obvious
choice for Network administrators as only a single dongle is required, thus
reducing installation time and cost. Download QSNetDongleInstall.exe and install.
This utility is designed for system Administrators to request the number of
Quikscribe licenses they require from Quikscribe and below are the instructions
how to use this utility.
- Download, unzip and install this file HDD32.zip
to your server. Note: This driver software allows your server to
talk to the Network Dongle. - Download, unzip and install this file LM_Setup_Win32.zip
to your server. Note: This software continually runs as a small
communication service on the server so that Quikscribe users can
obtain licenses at runtime. - Download QSNetDongleUtility.exe
and copy this file into your QS Recorder or QS Player directory.
Note: This utility is designed for system Administrators to request
the number of Quikscribe licenses they require from Quikscribe and
below are the instructions how to use this utility.
How to request Quikscribe licenses and upgrade your Network dongle
Below is the Quikscribe Network Dongle Utility. With this utility can can
verify the ‘Maximum Licenses possible’ e.g. if it is a 5, 10, 20, 50 Network
dongle etc. Note: Before this utility can read and write to the dongle, the
HDD32.zip
dongle driver needs to be installed.
- To request licenses, enter your company name and enter ‘Total
Number of Licenses Required’. In the example below, the Network
Dongle is currently programmed for 1 x Recorder and 1 x Player,
which we are now requesting to update to 5 x Recorders and 5 x Players. - Select ‘Generate Request’ – At this stage you will be prompted
to save the registration reference file that will be named as 1236424886_Registration.irf. - Once you have saved this .irf file, e-mail this to your Quikscribe
re-seller, so that this registration reference file can be modified
and upgraded with the number of licenses that you require.
How to import and update your Quikscribe Network dongle
Once your updated .irf registration file is returned, follow the steps below
to import and update your Quikscribe Network dongle.
- Select the button ‘Browse for Dongle .irf’ and select your returned
.irf file. - Next, select the button ‘Update / Test Dongle’ – At this stage
the ‘Number of Currently Programmed Licenses’ should update from
1 x Recorder and 1 x Player to 5 x Recorders and 5 x Players.
At this stage assuming you have LM_Setup_Win32.zip
installed and running as a service on your server, up to 5 x Recorder
and 5 x Players can be used at the same time.
How to enable Network dongle licensing within Quikscribe
In order for the Quikscribe Recorder or the Quikscribe Player to obtain a license
from the Network dongle, you need to enable the option , which is detailed below.
- Select the Help menu
- Select the option called ‘Register’
- Enable the option ‘CheckNetwork Dongle’ as illustrated below
Note: Once you have done this, you will need to restart Quikscribe which
will then obtain its license to operate via the Network Dongle.
